Major Investment Study

In 2006, Nassau County released a final report on the federally funded Major Investment Study (MIS) for the Nassau Hub that evaluates future development and mass transit options for the heart of central Nassau County.

This study narrowed down the prefered alternatives for a transit system in the Nassau Hub to three technologies -- Light Rail Transit, Bus Rapid Transit and Automated Guideway Transit -- and two routes -- Core System and Full System (click here to see maps of these proposed systems)

Next Steps

The County is just now now in the process selecting the consultants that will carry out the next phase of the process, the Environmental Impact Study (EIS). This study will evaluate the relative effects each of the alternatives will have on the environment and surrounding communities.
